Canadian VPS hosting · Practical selection guide
Linux or Windows VPS? Start with the software you need to run.
A VPS is a good fit when an application needs its own operating system, permissions or runtime. Tell us what runs today and which responsibilities you want handled, rather than ordering from CPU and RAM numbers alone.
Linux VPS
Often appropriate for Docker containers, websites, databases, APIs and self-hosted tools. Include your distribution, runtime versions, domain and any required ports when asking for a quote.
Windows VPS
Useful for Windows-only programs, IIS or Remote Desktop administration. We review Windows licensing, application compatibility, remote access and update requirements before confirming the configuration.
Managed or self-managed?
Clarify responsibility for security updates, firewall policies, backups, monitoring, restores and application problems. The management scope and recovery process should be written into the hosting agreement.
Moving an existing VPS? We first identify application data, databases, DNS, mail, credentials, scheduled jobs and the rollback point. We plan an agreed cutover and verify services before changing production traffic.
