Cotoax hosting is winding down. Protect your game worlds and server data.

Cotoax says its game hosting and VPS services are no longer renewable after the August 2026 closure announcement. Previously prepaid services can remain operational until their individual prepaid terms end. Customers should use their actual account expiration date to plan the move.

What is changing?

Cotoax announced the discontinuation of its hosting operations on August 1, 2026. Most prepaid game-server and VPS subscriptions remain active only until the time already paid for and cannot be renewed. Its official notice says dedicated servers are an exception and may continue to be renewed.

Do not assume there is one fixed shutdown date for every customer. Check the end of your individual prepaid period and save a verified off-host backup in advance. Existing dedicated-server customers should verify renewal eligibility directly with Cotoax.

Check the provider's official notice ↗ and any account-specific communications before deciding when to migrate.

Plan the move before the service ends

  1. Document the game title, edition, version, current plugins or modpack, expected concurrent players, map or world size, and any linked databases, permissions or account systems.
  2. Take independent copies of world saves, player inventories, mod and plugin directories, configuration files, databases and backups. Verify all archives can be opened before your current subscription expires.
  3. Choose replacement hosting after confirming the game runtime, mod/plugin compatibility, RAM, CPU, SSD capacity, region, network needs and desired DDoS protection are suitable.
  4. Restore the server in a staging environment and test joining, saves, inventories, whitelist permissions, plugins and persistence before redirecting players.
  5. With your approval, choose a cutover window, announce a brief maintenance period, stop writes on the old server, take a final save and transfer it before redirecting players.

What we need to assess your server or site

  • Current provider and exact service or plan name
  • Domain(s), operating system, applications, databases, and background jobs
  • CPU, RAM, storage consumption, and typical traffic where applicable
  • Recent backup status, recovery requirements, and tolerance for downtime
  • DNS, email, firewall, certificate, integration, and IP-dependent dependencies

Independent migration support

TheAppGuy can review the workload and propose a supported destination, a migration scope, and an estimate. Any backup access, copying, test deployment or DNS cutover requires the customer's approval. We confirm compatibility and available capacity before making a commitment.

We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or officially endorsed by Cotoax. A migration assessment is not a guarantee that we can accept every workload.
